Living with IBS can feel like you are on a hamster wheel and you are going round and round anticipating when the next flare up will be. It can feel like you are stuck in a loop and never going to be able to make plans and move forward with your life.
When you are in stuck in that cycle perhaps you find a solution that works for a while and then you find out that your symptoms have changed or you find it doesn’t work anymore.
It can feel like you are in a real rut and stuck in a loop.
Here are some tips to consider to help you move forward:
- Identify your triggers:
Is it food? Or is it when you are feeling more stressed at work? Is it going to particular places?
Ask a friend or colleague what they have noticed about you. Sometimes when we ask for information from people around us we can get a different perspective.
- Listening to hypnotherapy recordings can help give your brain a nice relaxing break and take you away from the problem. Hypnotherapy also has the benefits of helping you and your nervous system feel calmer.
- Ensure that you have some calm in your day and build in some self-care every day.
- Aim for balance. No-one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes.
If you have got yourself worked up about something or eaten foods that make your IBS worse, you can start again tomorrow.
- Notice what is going on for you on days when things are better for you.
Solution-focused hypnotherapy can help you move away from the problem and towards solutions.
