2021 has finally arrived and whilst we are in the first stages of coming out of another lock down you might be thinking ahead about what you would like to achieve in 2021.
I’ve doing some clearing out at home and it feels really good. Research has shown that we are calmer in a tidier place and we can think clearer.
When we have a real sort and clean of our homes and get rid of the items we no longer need the results can be life changing. Small little touches like adding a bunch of flowers, opening a window and clearing worksurfaces in the kitchen can feel rewarding. Tackle one thing at a time. Many of us have unwanted gifts or clothes that no longer fit us so keep these items bagged and ready to go to the charity shop for when they reopen.
Sometimes our belief systems and the way we think can clutter our minds and can have adverse effects on our lives and keep us from performing at an optimal level. If we worry we create fear and this can clutter our mind and wear us down. We can become trapped in a cycle of negative thinking which can cause feelings of being overwhelmed or out of control. If this worry or negative thoughts continue long term it can have debilitating effects on us and stop us from enjoying life to its full potential. It can stop us relaxing and we find it hard to de-stress and relax which have both physical and mental impacts on us.
You will be pleased to hear that we can switch our negative thought patterns into more positive ways of thinking. We just need to gain some new tools in our toolkit to be able to put this into place. Even if we start to tackle the clutter at home, we can address our thoughts and feelings and question whether those feelings are still useful to us? They have outlived their purpose and we need to re-evaluate them. We are constantly reframing and thinking about how we do things so we can apply this to decluttering our minds. When we were little we did not know how to ride a bicycle and now it seems the easiest thing in world!
